BACARO LIST!!

Bacaro is the traditional venetian pub.

It is easy to recognize them thanks to the long counter directly on the streets. They are known for the “Ombra”, the glass of house wine, spritz, traditional food “cicchetti” (bread and prosciutto, cheese, eggs, different kind of fish etc.).

It is very common to see group of friends making a “bacaro tour”, meaning chosing different bacaro around the city, eating and drinking something different in every bacaro they visit.

Our advise is to discover and try new places as you walk through the city, which i salso the best way to discover all the bacaro around.

Here, we provide you with a list of bacaro that we tried and are worthy a visit. We will try to keep this list updated as much as possible!

1. Piazza San Marco and BasilicaSaint Mark's square

Saint Mark Area is the very center of Venice history and power. From here, you can feel and understand the greatness of a city that has been a leading trade power back in the past.

In this area, you can’t miss a visit to the Basilica or to the bell tower. Try to avoid the expensive bar in the square in favour of a cheaper Bacaro in the streets nearby. Find out more here.

2. Palazzo DucaleVenice quiet

Moving from Piazza San Marco towards the Canal Grande you will see, on your left, Palazzo Ducale. Palazzo Ducale has been for centuries the political center of the Republic of Venice and, nowadays, it is a wonderful museum full of charm and history. If you can, take a guided tour to the hidden places of this great palace.

Festa del Redentore

An old, but spectacular Venetian tradition: Festa del Redentore is a big event taking place every year on the third Sunday of July.fireworks festa del redentore

It reminds the Venetian Senate decision to build the Chiesa del Redentore (Redeemer’s Church) as an ex-vote for the liberation of the city from the black death of 1575-1577, a plague that caused the death of more than a third of the city’s population in just two years. MOVING IN VENICE

Venice is a city without cars, the last point you can reach driving is Piazzale Roma, crossing “Ponte della Libertà” (Freedom Bridge), where also trains and buses run.

Once in Piazzale Roma, or in Stazione Santa Lucia arriving by train, you get to choose how to move: on foot, “vaporetti” (small ferry boats) or taxi.Taxi venice
